How thieves spy on parking spaces
Almost exactly one year ago, a beautiful Mercedes-Benz 220 SE convertible from 1960 was stolen in Aachen.
The owner is more than annoyed: "The cabriolet was specifically stolen from a garage park, only my two garage doors were broken into. The thieves knew exactly where my classic cars were parked!"
He continues, "The "spotters" have followed me with a Dutch and also a German rental car with "WI" license plates, not only once, but also when I was on the road with my 190 SL. " Unfortunately, classic car thefts occur regularly around Aachen, Düren and Monschau, which suggests gang activity.
This makes it relatively easy for the perpetrators. Since "driving behind" cannot be prosecuted by the police if the classic car driver notices it at all, experts recommend additional mechanical security measures at the parking location. Furthermore, if possible, a passive tracking system should be on board, which remains hidden from thieves because it does not send any signals and for this reason also has a much longer battery life. One way to equip your vehicle with a passive 5-way tracking module is the RE-LOCATORfrom MICARE PS.
